Where should I look for an internship?

A: Handshake and LinkedIn are the recommended websites to search for an internship. Your personal network of friends and acquaintances can also be a valuable tool for the internship search.

Will my professors or UNT staff members find internships for me?

A: No. Part of the internship experience is applying, interviewing, and securing your own internship experience. Professors and staff members can assist you with your search but are unable to provide you with an internship.

Where can I have my resume and cover letter reviewed?

A: As a CACS student you have access to both the Career Center and the Director of Internship Programs for UNT at Frisco. You can schedule an appointment with a Career and Industry Specialist or the Director of Internship Programs via Navigate.

Am I eligible to complete an internship as an international student?

A: Yes. However, there are additional steps that international students need to take to ensure that they maintain their F-1 visa status. More information can be found here.

Am I allowed to use an unpaid internship for credit?

A: Yes. If you choose an unpaid internship you are encouraged to apply for the unpaid internship scholarship through the Career Center. You can find more information about the scholarship here.

Am I eligible to complete an internship for credit as a student pursuing the 100% online BAAS degree in partnership with Coursera?

A: No. A student enrolled in the BAAS 100% online degree is not eligible to receive credit for an internship.

 

I work full-time. Am I eligible to use this as an internship?

A: That depends. It is best to schedule an appointment with the Director of Internship programs via Navigate to discuss your specific situation.

Do I have to receive academic credit for my internship?

A: You do not have to receive academic credit for your internship if it is not required by your degree plan.

Is it possible to earn credit hours for an internship that I begin in the middle of a semester or summer term?

A: It is possible, but it depends on when your internship begins. Schedule a meeting with the Director of Internship Programs to discuss if your internship is eligible for credit hours.

Can I get credit for an internship that I completed in a previous term?

A: No. You must be enrolled in the internship class at the same time that you are completing an internship to receive academic credit.

 

Is the internship class graded?

A: Yes. You will be graded on the coursework that you complete, in addition to the number of internship hours that you complete.
